The second Darkwaves episode was broadcasted on April 9, 2020. Next week Thursday (April 16, 2020), Darkwaves will be slightly different in that the focus will be on dark (sad, wistful…) electronic music, ranging from dark ambient to new wave-‘pop’, with artists such as Coil, Visage, Depeche Mode and Deine Lakaien. Should be ‘fun’!
Yesterday’s show combined avantgarde/experimental approaches to new wave (such as Tuxedomoon) with an emphasis on a (for me personally) very important sub-genre of new wave/postpunk that is often called ‘ethereal wave’ or (in the 1990s) ‘dream pop/shoegaze’ (Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star). It is available for streaming (until April 23) here: https://whupfm.org/episode/darkwaves-4-9-20/
